Birria

One of my favorite dishes is Birria. Birria is a delicious Mexican meat stew that is made with goat, lamb, or beef. It has a unique spicy flavor that just makes your mouth water when you are in its presence. My mother usually makes it for certain special events like my grandfathers birthday, because it’s his favorite dish, or for the holidays. In the winter, the mouth watering aroma warms the air giving the house a classic Mexican restaurant feeling. My mother uses a recipe that my grandfather has perfected with special secret ingredients that just amplifies the flavor of the already savory stew. The broth itself is made up of dried roasted peppers that give it that sweet spicy flavor that I love so much.

Other ingredients include:
-Toasted Sesame seeds
-Black Pepper blend
-Ginger
-Diced Garlic heads
-Vinegar

And there are so many other ingredients that I am not aware of that make Birria absolutely scrumptious. The sauce is by far the best part of the meal. Filled with all of those spices it just satisfies my pallet and my stomach. I deeply enjoy very spicy food so I add Tapatio, a hot sauce that just further enhances the spicy flavor. Other things that you can add to it are diced onions, cilantro and lime. Along with the meal you have to have tortillas, it’s just not complete with out it. You can put the meat along with the diced onions and cilantro in the tortilla to make a delicious taco. I personally like to just soak the tortilla in the broth and eat it alone. The meat itself is filled with juicy flavors that burst in your mouth on the first bite. This is a great traditional Mexican dish that I really enjoy and I am sure you will enjoy it too.
